Ascend Health approached Odenn Studio to develop a comprehensive patient management system that would serve as the operational backbone for their wellness practice. The platform needed to support secure patient-admin interactions, streamlined health plan management, and robust data analytics capabilities — all while remaining responsive and accessible across mobile and web. Phase 1 focused on core functionality spanning authentication, patient management, workout and nutrition planning, document handling, and communication features. The challenge was to build an enterprise-grade system that could scale with the practice while remaining intuitive for both administrators managing complex patient workflows and patients engaging with their personalised health plans.

Odenn Studio designed and built the platform on a modern, scalable stack: Next.js 14 with TypeScript for the responsive web frontend, Supabase for PostgreSQL database and real-time capabilities, and Tailwind CSS for a consistent, mobile-first design system. Authentication was implemented through Supabase Auth with multi-factor authentication support, enabling secure access for both admin and patient roles.
The Phase 1 feature set encompassed nine interconnected modules. User authentication and role management gave admins full control over patient accounts, registration approvals, and permissions, while patients could self-register, log in securely, and recover passwords independently. The patient management dashboard provided comprehensive profiles with document repositories, nutrition and workout plan assignment, communication history, and private admin notes with visibility toggles.
Workout and nutrition plan management allowed admins to create detailed plans with exercise specifications, meal tracking, and macronutrient calculations — assigning and tracking them per patient, while patients could view plans, log completions, and submit feedback. A document management system enabled secure upload, download, and annotation of patient documents. A bi-directional communication platform supported threaded messaging with optional file attachments. Data analytics dashboards tracked workout progress, nutrition trends, and document patterns with exportable reports. Email notifications kept both parties informed of plan assignments, uploads, and messages. A comprehensive audit trail logged all user activity, data modifications, and security events.
